Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP): Go Dentiste welcomes eligible patients

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) helps Canadian residents without private dental insurance pay for part or all of their dental care. Go Dentiste participates in the plan at its Valleyfield and Vaudreuil-Dorion clinics and bills Sun Life, the plan administrator, directly.

Who is eligible for the CDCP?

  • Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes and have filed your tax return for the previous year
  • Have no access to private dental insurance (through an employer, a pension plan or an individual policy)
  • Have an adjusted family net income below the threshold set by the federal government
  • Detailed conditions and the application form are on the Government of Canada website (canada.ca/dental)

Which services are covered?

The CDCP covers a wide range of basic and preventive care: exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions, gum care, complete and partial dentures, and certain other treatments, sometimes subject to pre-authorization. Depending on your family income, a share of the cost (co-payment) may remain your responsibility; we tell you before the treatment. Cosmetic treatments (whitening, veneers) and implants are generally not covered.

How it works at Go Dentiste

  • Bring your CDCP member number and identification
  • We verify your coverage and your co-payment level before the appointment
  • Covered services are billed directly to the plan; you pay only the co-payment, if any, and non-covered services, after an estimate
  • For treatments requiring pre-authorization, we submit the request for you

Frequently asked questions about the CDCP

Does Go Dentiste accept the CDCP?

Yes, at both clinics, in Valleyfield and Vaudreuil-Dorion, with direct billing to the plan.

Do I have to pay up front?

Not for covered services: the clinic bills the plan directly. You pay only the co-payment according to your income, if applicable, and non-covered services, always after an estimate.

Can I have the CDCP if I have insurance through work?

No. The plan is reserved for people who do not have access to private dental insurance. People covered by a provincial program (such as the RAMQ for children) may be eligible.

Are children covered?

Yes, children of eligible families are covered by the CDCP, in addition to the care already covered by the RAMQ before age 10.

Where do I apply?

Online on the Government of Canada website or by phone with Service Canada. Once you receive your eligibility letter, call us for your first appointment.
