01In brief
Looking for an orthodontist in Valleyfield?
Evaluation from age 7 · no referral needed
At the Go Dentiste clinic in Valleyfield, orthodontic services (braces and clear aligners) are offered by our general dentists for children from age 7, teens and adults. The clinic has no orthodontist (a specialist dentist) on staff: when a case calls for one, for example a significant jaw discrepancy or an impacted tooth, we refer you to an orthodontist and coordinate the follow-up. No referral needed: call 514-533-3368 or book online, 24/7.

02What to know
What our general dentists do in orthodontics
A general dentist can offer orthodontic services. The title of orthodontist, however, is reserved for specialist dentists, and we prefer to say so clearly.
- The orthodontic evaluationAn exam, X-rays and, depending on the case, photos and impressions: we explain what is happening in your mouth, what is pressing and what can wait.
- Clear alignersRemovable, discreet trays offered for many mild to moderate cases of crooked or gapped teeth, in teens and adults.
- BracesFixed, versatile metal or ceramic brackets that can correct many alignment and bite problems.
- Retainers and follow-upAfter treatment, a fixed or removable retainer keeps the teeth in place; adjustments and check-ups are done at the clinic.
When to ask for an evaluation
- Crooked, crowded or gapped teeth
- Upper teeth that stick out or overlap the lower teeth too much
- Front teeth that don’t touch when you close your mouth
- Trouble biting, chewing or properly cleaning certain teeth
- A child aged 7 or older who has never had an orthodontic opinion
Good to know: If your situation goes beyond what our general dentists treat, we tell you at the evaluation and refer you to an orthodontist. Your regular check-ups and cleanings continue with us.

03Options
Aligners, braces or an orthodontist: how we guide you
The option is chosen after the exam, based on your situation, your age and your preferences.
- Clear alignersOften offered for mild to moderate cases, in teens and adults who can wear them 20 to 22 hours a day. Discreet, they come out for eating and brushing.
- BracesSuited to a wider range of situations, including many bite problems. Always in place: nothing to forget, but brushing takes more care.
- Referral to an orthodontistSignificant jaw discrepancy, certain impacted teeth, treatment combined with surgery: the dentist explains why and sends your file.

06FAQ
Frequently asked questions: orthodontics in Valleyfield
Is there an orthodontist at Go Dentiste in Valleyfield?
No. Orthodontic services are offered by our general dentists. The title of orthodontist is reserved for dentists who hold a specialist certificate. When a case calls for it, we refer you to an orthodontist and coordinate the follow-up.
Can a general dentist provide braces or aligners?
Yes. In Quebec, general dentists can offer orthodontic treatment. The dentist first assesses whether your situation falls within their scope of practice; if not, they refer you to an orthodontist.
Do I need a referral for an orthodontic evaluation?
No. You can book directly, online 24/7 or at 514-533-3368. New patients are welcome.
Does RAMQ cover orthodontics?
No. RAMQ excludes orthodontics, and the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) does not currently offer orthodontic services. Many private insurance plans reimburse part of the cost; we check your coverage before you start.
At what age should a child be seen?
A first evaluation around age 7 helps spot certain growth or bite problems early. Most often, it is simply a matter of monitoring; treatment, if needed, starts later.
